How does it work?

Climate Defense is a decentralized movement.

Action groups organize actions. Action groups have their own names, political positions, demands and tactics.

Any group of people that agree with our Demand and the Principles and Values can act as part of Climate Defense, by using the Climate Defense symbol and the #climatedefense and #stopharm hashtags.

Climate Defense itself is not an organization and does not organize actions. We do not endorse other groups, we simply share their actions.

Climate Defense gives visibility to actions of peaceful sabotage and empowers newcomers.

To share your action story:

All actions that are compatible with the principles and values of Climate Defense are more than welcome to be published on the website.

We will publish your Press Release as is (if you have any), in whatever language you wrote it. In case it’s not English, we may want to write up a short summary, unless you do that for us.

Send us photos. We will clean the metadata in them before publishing, in order to create anonymity of the source. (You can also do that before sending us the photos, in case you don’t trust us.)

Alternatively, if an action group publishes their action directly in their means of communication rather than sending to us, then here is what we do: We only consider that they give consent to frame their action as part of Climate Defense if they use either the Climate Defense symbol or one of the hashtags #climatedefense and #stopharm.

Check the Contacts page for more information.

How can this website be useful?

We are setting up a rather diverse Resources section. This section will include toolkits, list of contacts as well as opinion articles. Please help us improve and expand it.

We are collecting some manuals, guides and how-to documents. Use them freely. If you are aware of more open-source content that fits the principles and values of Climate Defense, please send us an email so we repost them as well.

One difficulty that action groups face is to find out which journalists to approach for their actions. We are compiling a list of news outlets and a list of journalists who cover actions of peaceful sabotage. A journalist being in the list doesn’t mean they will agree with your action, but it may be an indicator that they would be interested in listening to your message. If you know of more journalists or news outlets, please send us by email.

Finally, within the movement there are several discussions on peaceful sabotage and durable disruption, from theoretical, political, organizational and strategic perspectives. We are paying attention to this debate and reposting some of the articles we found inspiring. If you read an article and thought it should be on this website, please send us. You can also write opinion articles for us to publish on our website directly.
